General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The EU GDPR rules have instigated the biggest change to data protection for 20 years and challenges us to look closely at how we are handling personal data. This 1-hour course is designed to raise employee awareness in relation to new data protection rules and the impact those requirements have on the day to day running of a business.


At the end of the GDPR course, users will:

  • Understand why data protection is important

  • Have an awareness of GDPR and data protection in the Channel Islands

  • Be able to identify the difference between personal and sensitive personal data

  • Have developed an understanding of an individual’s rights in relation to their personal information


About the authors

Paula is the Managing Director of Island Consortium Training in Guernsey, a non-executive director for The Channel Islands Co-operative Society and Vice Chair for the Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association.

As a trainer, Paula has experience successfully implementing business transformation initiatives and numerous change training programmes. Over the past 2 years she has been actively involved in implementing a range of new training initiatives, including the Guernsey IoD Board Readiness Programme, Advanced Certificate in Funds Administration, NED Apprenticeship Programme and designing/delivering GDPR training in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Paula has an MBA in Strategic Management from Henley Business School and a Diploma in Tertiary Teaching. She is an active member of the NED Forum, Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Directors.
