Following military service with the British Army, Ross joined the Metropolitan Police in 2002, becoming a Detective in 2004. In 2007, he became an Accredited Financial Investigator, focusing on conducting money laundering investigations and stripping the assets of criminals. These investigations often targeted members of Organised Criminal Networks (OCNs) operating pan-London and across the UK.

In 2009, Ross moved to New Scotland Yard, joining the National Terrorist Financial Investigation Unit (NTFIU). Working closely with key government and industry partners, he led national and International Terrorist Finance (TF) and financial intelligence operations. As part of a Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) capacity building program, Ross was part of a small team of officers that delivered bespoke, tailored, training in Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) to overseas partners in the middle east. In 2012 he managed the NTFIU’s Intelligence and Assessment desk during the London Olympics and was responsible for prioritising the response to, and further development of, information initially received into the unit.

In 2013, Ross was seconded to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide specialist CFT and AML operational expertise, travelling to Afghanistan, the United States and across Europe. During this secondment, Ross was responsible for developing UK lines of effort for adoption at the ‘Five Eyes’ Threat Finance Working Group. This was comprised of subject matter experts from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United States and the UK. Ross was also responsible for delivering bespoke financial crime training to identified defence stakeholders.

Since 2015, operating as Grata Opus Ltd, Ross has designed and delivered bespoke Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Fraud and Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) training and consultancy services to a wide range of government and private sector clients all over the globe. He is vastly experienced in face-to-face delivery, in settings ranging from intimate, confidential boardrooms, to large, open, public conferences. He is also accustomed to presenting over numerous secure and open virtual platforms.
